HRH Princess Salote Pilolevu Tuita of Tonga visits SHOU

10月14日，汤加长公主、汤中友协主席、太中友协荣誉主席皮洛莱乌·图伊塔一行在上海市人民对外友好协会的陪同下来校访问。

On October 14, The Princess Royal, HRH Princess, Patron of Tonga China Friendship Association, and Patron and Chairperson of Pacific China Friendship Association, Pilolevu Tuita paid a visit to our university, accompanied by the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

校党委书记王宏舟、副校长江敏会见了来访客人。学校党校办、国际交流处、水产与生命学院、海洋生物资源与管理学院、海洋科学与生态环境学院负责人和专家陪同会见。

Wang Hongzhou, the Secretary of the University Party Committee and Jiang Min, Vice President, met with the visiting guests. The leaders and experts of Party School Office, International Student Office, College of Fisheries and Life Science, College of Marine Living Resource Sciences and Management, College of Oceanography and Ecological Science accompanied with the meeting.

当日下午13：00，汤加代表团与上海市人民对外友好协会、上海海洋大学相关领导人展开会面。

At 1: 00 p.m., the Tonga delegation met with the leaders from the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Shanghai Ocean University.

会面中，王宏舟对汤加长公主皮洛莱乌·图伊塔一行的来访致以热烈欢迎。他简要介绍了学校的基本情况，着重阐述了学校的学科优势以及与汤加等太平洋岛国在合作交流方面的情况。

During the meeting, Wang Hongzhou warmly welcomed the visit of Princess Pilolevu Tuita of Tonga. He briefly introduced the basic situation of the school, emphasizing on the school's academic advantages and the cooperation and exchange activities with Tonga and other Pacific island countries.

王宏舟表示，希望在人才培养和科学研究等领域与汤加进一步深化合作，并将此作为学校发展的重要战略目标之一。

Wang Hongzhou expressed his hope to further deepen cooperation with Tonga in the fields of talent cultivation and scientific research, and to make this one of the important strategic goals of the school's development.

汤加长公主皮洛莱乌·图伊塔对学校的热情接待和前期双方的积极沟通交流表示衷心感谢，并诚挚邀请学校领导前往汤加进行访问交流。

Princess Pilolevu Tuita expressed her heartfelt thanks for the warm reception at the university and the positive communication between both sides, and sincerely invited the school leaders to visit Tonga for further exchange and interaction.

随后，与会双方就教育领域合作的最新进展情况进行了务实且深入的交流与磋商，并携手探索了未来合作的广阔前景。

Subsequently, representatives from both sides engaged in practical and in-depth discussions on the latest developments in the field of education cooperation, and together explored the broad prospects for future collaboration.

来访期间，皮洛莱乌·图伊塔一行与八位汤加留学生亲切会面，相关职能部门及学院代表亦出席了此次见面会。在交流过程中，双方围绕汤加学生来华留学情况进行了深入沟通，此举极大地增进了彼此之间的了解。

During the visit, Pilolevu Tuita and her delegation met with eight Tongan students studying in our university. Representatives from relevant departments and colleges also attended the meeting. During the communication, both sides had in-depth discussions on the situation of Tongan students studying in China, greatly enhancing mutual understanding.

公主一行还参观了学校“双一流”建设成果展，双方就后续的合作达成了共识，为未来的进一步深入合作奠定了坚实基础。

The princess and her delegation also visited the exhibition showcasing the achievements of the Double First-Class construction of the school. Both sides reached consensus on future cooperation, laying a solid foundation for further collaboration in the future.

学校始终高度重视与包括汤加在内的太平洋地区各国政府之间高层次交流与合作。

SHOU has always placed a high importance on high-level exchanges and cooperation between governments of the Pacific region,including Tonga.

2002年斐济共和国总理亲临学校访问，开启了学校与太平洋地区国家友好交流的重要篇章。

In 2002,the Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji visited the school,marking the beginning of an important chapter of friendly exchanges between the school and countries in the Pacific region.

2023年万荣校长出席中国农业农村部主办的中国—太平洋岛国渔业合作发展论坛，表示学校将始终立足全球视野，围绕联合国2030可持续发展目标，致力于我国政府所倡导的“一带一路”国际务实合作，将服务中国与太平洋岛国的合作作为重点之一，积极推动与岛国的渔业科技交流与人才培养。

Principal Wang Rong attended the China-Pacific Island Countries Forum on Fisheries Cooperation and Development hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China in 2023.He stated that the university will always have a global perspective,focus on the United Nations'Sustainable Development Goals,and dedicate to the practical international cooperation advocated by the Chinese government's Belt and Road Initiative.One of the key focuses will be to serve China and the Pacific island countries'cooperation,actively promote fisheries science and technology exchanges,and talent development with island nations.

2023年，学校与太平洋中国友好协会成功签署合作协议。

In 2023,the university successfully signed a cooperation agreement with the Pacific China Friendship Association.

2024年初，万荣校长赴斐济和基里巴斯，与两国政府的渔业部门、教育部门领导展开深入交流，积极洽谈人才培养领域的合作事宜，为双方的共同发展注入新动力；随后学校分别与萨摩亚国立大学和南太平洋大学签署合作协议，不断拓展合作的广度与深度。

In early 2024,Principal Wang Rong visited Fiji and Kiribati to engage in in-depth discussions with the fisheries and education department leaders of both countries,actively negotiating cooperation in the field of talent development to inject new energy into the development of both sides.Subsequently,the school signed cooperation agreements with the National University of Samoa and the University of the South Pacific,continuously expanding the breadth and depth of cooperation.
