During the opening ceremony, Vice President Jiang Min delivered an opening address reflecting on the university's 71-year history of international education, noting that SHOU has welcomed and nurtured students from 116 countries worldwide.

She expressed her hope that every international student at SHOU would embrace their role as ambassadors of cultural exchange, fulfilling the beautiful vision of universal radiance and harmonious coexistence.
Faculty representative Zhang Wenbo shared the university’s significant contributions to global aquaculture, drawing from his personal experience as a consultant for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. He highlighted SHOU’s influential voice within international organizations like the FAO, noting that multiple faculty members have represented the Chinese government at intergovernmental meetings. Furthermore, Professor Liu Liping was elected President of the Asian Fisheries Society, and Benter (An Beitian), a doctoral student from Kenya, was elected as a student director of the World Aquaculture Society—all milestones reflecting the university's robust internationalization.
In her remarks, Benter expressed that studying at SHOU is a privilege many dream of. Here, we do not just accumulate knowledge and expand our networks; we gain the power to build bridges connecting underdeveloped regions, developing countries, and developed economies, she said, encouraging her peers to become future global development partners.
