University Leaders Visit Italy and Spain to Advance International Cooperation in Aquaculture and Marine Sciences

9月6至13日，党委副书记、副校长夏雅敏率团赴意大利和西班牙，就水产与海洋学科开展深入交流，巩固和扩大我校在水产和海洋学科的国际合作伙伴关系。

From September 6 to 13, Xia Yamin, Vice President of Shanghai Ocean University, led a delegation to Italy and Spain for in-depth exchanges on aquaculture and marine sciences, with the aim of consolidating and expanding the University's international partnerships in these fields.

在意大利访问期间，代表团与联合国粮农组织（FAO）渔业及水产养殖业司、南南合作及三方合作司、小岛屿国家、内陆国家和最不发达国家办公室开展专题会谈，围绕渔业及水产养殖研究参考中心申报、国际合作项目、国际组织人才培养等重点工作深入交流，持续深化校际战略合作。

During the visit to Italy, the delegation held dedicated meetings with the Fisheries and Aquaculture Division, the South-South and Triangular Cooperation Division, and the Office of Small Island Developing States, Least Developed Countries and Landlocked Developing Countries of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The parties engaged in in-depth discussions on key areas, including the University's application for designation as an FAO Reference Centre for fisheries and aquaculture research, international cooperation projects, and talent development for international organizations, further deepening strategic cooperation between the institutions.

在FAO第37届渔业委员会唯一以水产养殖为主题的边会上，针对边会“推动水产养殖创新，共促绿色可持续发展”主题，夏雅敏代表学校作题为《科教赋能水产养殖创新》的专题发言，宣介上海海洋大学水产养殖创新发展成果，并表示愿与FAO及各国伙伴一道，深化联合研究，加强能力建设与青年培养，全力支持FAO“蓝色转型”和《可持续水产养殖准则》的落实，为实现2030年可持续发展目标贡献高校的力量。代表团还慰问了我校在FAO访学及实习的师生，勉励大家为助力全球可持续发展贡献青春力量。

At the only side event devoted to aquaculture during the 37th Session of the FAO Committee on Fisheries, Xia Yamin delivered a thematic presentation entitled Empowering Aquaculture Innovation through Science and Education on behalf of the University. Addressing the side event's theme, Advancing Aquaculture Innovation for Green and Sustainable Development, she highlighted Shanghai Ocean University's achievements in aquaculture innovation and development. She stated that the University stands ready to work with FAO and partners from around the world to deepen joint research, strengthen capacity development and youth training, and fully support the implementation of FAO's Blue Transformation and the Guidelines for Sustainable Aquaculture, thereby contributing the expertise and strength of higher education to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals under the 2030 Agenda. The delegation also visited SHOU faculty members and students undertaking study visits and internships at FAO, encouraging them to contribute their youthful energy to global sustainable development.

在西班牙，代表团重点推进联合国“海洋十年”大科学计划落地合作。学校与西班牙国家研究委员会海洋科学研究所（ICM-CSIC）深度对接，围绕“深海微生物组与生态系统（DOME）”项目，重点磋商欧洲分中心筹建工作。代表团实地考察对方科研平台与实验室资源，双方就联合申报国际科研项目、深化海洋学科共建、建立常态化学术交流机制达成共识。期间，代表团专程拜会中国驻巴塞罗那总领事孟宇宏，汇报学校对西合作整体情况，就DOME欧洲分中心建设、校际合作、来华留学与青年人文交流等事项交换意见，获得了总领馆的指导与支持。

In Spain, the delegation focused on advancing cooperation in the implementation of major scientific initiatives under the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. The University held in-depth discussions with the Institute of Marine Sciences of the Spanish National Research Council (ICM-CSIC) on the Deep Ocean Microbiomes and Ecosystems (DOME) project, with particular emphasis on preparations for establishing its European Regional Centre. The delegation toured the institute's research facilities and laboratories. The two sides reached consensus on jointly applying for international research projects, strengthening the joint development of marine sciences, and establishing a regular academic exchange mechanism. During the visit, the delegation paid a special call on Meng Yuhong, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Barcelona, and briefed her on the University's overall cooperation with Spain. They exchanged views on the establishment of the DOME European Regional Centre, inter-university cooperation, international student recruitment for study in China, and youth and cultural exchanges, receiving guidance and support from the Consulate General.

本次出访还进一步拓宽了学校对西高校合作渠道，我校与巴利阿里群岛大学（UIB）正式签署谅解备忘录，开启科教国际合作。双方围绕双学位博士联合培养、科研协同攻关、师生互访交流等事项细化合作方案。代表团开展国际招生宣讲、走访联培博士生、考察科研平台，持续深化海洋领域跨国科教融合，夯实校际合作基础。

The visit also further expanded the University's channels for cooperation with Spanish universities. Shanghai Ocean University and the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) formally signed a memorandum of understanding, launching international cooperation in science and education. The two sides refined cooperation plans for joint doctoral training leading to dual degrees, collaborative research, and mutual visits and exchanges for faculty and students. The delegation delivered international student admissions presentations, visited jointly trained PhD students, and toured research facilities, further promoting the cross-border integration of marine research and education and strengthening the foundation for inter-university cooperation.

此次出访，进一步巩固了我校与FAO及西班牙相关高校、科研机构的合作纽带，推动水产养殖创新、海洋大科学研究和国际人才培养等领域合作由共识走向落地。学校将以此次访问为契机，加快落实各项合作意向与协议事项，持续拓展全球海洋科教合作网络，为服务全球海洋治理和高水平教育对外开放贡献更大力量。

The visit further consolidated the University's cooperative ties with FAO and relevant universities and research institutions in Spain, advancing cooperation in aquaculture innovation, large-scale marine science research, and international talent development from consensus to implementation. Building on the visit, the University will accelerate the implementation of the various cooperation intentions and agreements, continue to expand its global network for cooperation in marine research and education, and make greater contributions to global ocean governance and the high-standard opening up of education.
