Chile's Deputy Minister of Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy,Julio Salas, and His Delegation Visit the University

3月1日上午，智利经济部渔业副部长胡里奥·萨拉斯（Julio Salas）一行来校访问。校长万荣、副校长江敏会见了来访客人。一同到访的还有农业农村部渔业渔政管理局和中国远洋渔业协会的相关领导。学校的相关职能部门和学院负责人及专家参加座谈会。座谈会由副校长江敏主持。

On the morning of March 1, Julio Salas, Deputy Minister of Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy of Chile, visited the university with his delegation. President WAN Rong and Vice President JIANG Min met with the guests. Accompanying the delegation were officials from the Bureau of Fisheries Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the China Distant Water Fisheries Association. Leaders from relevant university departments, college representatives, and experts attended the meeting, which was chaired by Vice President JIANG Min.

万荣对萨拉斯一行的来访表示热烈欢迎。万荣指出，渔业是中国农业发展的重要支柱，推进渔业高质量发展是当前的重要任务。上海海洋大学在海洋与渔业科学与技术、信息与工程技术等领域取得了突出成绩，在人才培养、科学研究等方面为中国渔业事业贡献了重要力量。万荣表示，中智两国同为发展中国家，且都重视捕捞业和水产养殖业的发展，在推动渔业可持续发展的共同目标下，两国的渔业合作可以进一步拓展和深入。万荣希望以萨拉斯此次来访为契机，深化与智利在渔业科技、教育和管理方面的合作，共同为全球渔业可持续发展贡献智慧。

WAN Rong extended a warm welcome to Salas and his delegation. He emphasized that fisheries are a crucial pillar of China's agricultural development, and promoting high-quality fisheries development is a key task at present. Shanghai Ocean University has achieved outstanding results in marine and fisheries science and technology, as well as information and engineering technology, making significant contributions to China’s fisheries sector through talent cultivation and scientific research. WAN Rong pointed out that both China and Chile are developing countries that place great importance on the development of capture fisheries and aquaculture. With a shared goal of promoting sustainable fisheries, there is great potential to further expand and deepen bilateral cooperation in this field. He expressed hope that Salas’s visit would serve as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration with Chile in fisheries science and technology, education, and management, working together to contribute to the sustainable development of global fisheries.

萨拉斯对学校的精心安排和热情接待表示诚挚的感谢，对海洋大学在渔业等相关领域取得的成果表示高度赞赏与认同，并表示非常愿意加强双方在渔业、水产养殖等方面的学术交流、人才培养和科研合作，建立中智渔业合作机制。萨拉斯希望在中智渔业合作协定的框架下，推进智利高校、科研院所与上海海洋大学的合作，实现更开放、更深层次的人才培养和科研交流。会上，双方就气候变化、手工渔业发展、资源养护和环境保护等方面议题交换了意见。

Salas expressed sincere gratitude for the thoughtful arrangements and warm reception from the university. He highly appreciated and recognized the achievements of Shanghai Ocean University in fisheries and related fields. He expressed a strong willingness to strengthen academic exchanges, talent cultivation, and research cooperation between the two sides in fisheries and aquaculture, and to establish a China-Chile fisheries cooperation mechanism.Salas hoped to promote collaboration between Chilean universities, research institutions, and Shanghai Ocean University within the framework of the China-Chile Fisheries Cooperation Agreement, aiming for more open and deeper exchanges in talent cultivation and scientific research. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on topics such as climate change, artisanal fisheries development, resource conservation, and environmental protection.

访问期间，萨拉斯一行还参观了上海海洋大学“双一流”建设成果展，进一步了解学校近年来的发展成果。双方就后续的合作计划也达成共识。

During the visit, Salas and his delegation also toured the Shanghai Ocean University "Double First-Class" achievement exhibition, gaining a deeper understanding of the university's recent development accomplishments. Both sides reached a consensus on the future cooperation plans.
