2025 3S SHOU Marine Sustainability Program

在全球海洋治理与可持续发展成为时代命题的当下，由上海市教委主办、上海海洋大学承办的2025上海暑期学校（海洋可持续发展项目），于5月28日至6月17日成功举办。来自美国蒙大拿州三所高校的 21名师生与上海海洋大学 13名中外学子以海洋为纽带，通过三周深度研学，搭建起探索可持续发展与跨文化交流的平台，培育知华友华力量，共绘海洋可持续发展的蓝图。

Against the backdrop of global ocean governance and sustainable development becoming defining issues of our time, the 2025 Shanghai Summer School (Marine Sustainable Development Program), organized by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and hosted by Shanghai Ocean University(SHOU), was successfully held from May 28 to June 17. Through three weeks of in-depth study, focus on the Ocean theme, 21 students from three universities of Montana, USA, as well as 13 Chinese and foreign students from SHOU built a platform for exploring sustainable development and cross-cultural exchange, fostering understanding and appreciation of China while jointly shaping a vision for marine sustainability.

作为上海市教育国际合作交流的品牌项目，“上海暑期学校 (Shanghai Summer School，简称3S)”自2008年启动以来，始终致力于搭建中外教育人文交流的桥梁。此次暑期学校以“海洋可持续发展”为主题，构建起“学术探究 + 科技实践 + 文化浸润”三位一体的课程体系，成为培育具有全球视野海洋人才的重要平台。

As a flagship international education exchange program of Shanghai, the Shanghai Summer School (3S) has been dedicated to building bridges in educational and cultural exchanges between China and other countries since its launch in 2008. Focusing on the theme of Marine Sustainability, this year's program established a tripartite curriculum integrating “academic exploration, technological practice, and cultural immersion”, positioning itself as a vital platform for cultivating mar-ine talent with global vision.

在学术领域，暑期学校精心打造了一系列前沿讲座与课题研讨。学员们围绕海洋资源保护、新能源开发、水生态修复等全球性议题，聆听相关领域专家的真知灼见，并展开深入实地探访调研。课堂内外，中外学子协同合作，将理论知识与实际案例结合，在思维碰撞中不断完善对海洋可持续发展的认知。

In the academic realm, 3S program carefully designed a series of cutting-edge lectures and topic seminars. Focusing on global issues in marine resource conservation, new energy development, and aquatic ecosystem restoration, participants gained insights from leading experts in these fields and undertook in-depth field investigations. Both inside and outside the classroom, Chinese and foreign students collaborated closely, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical case studies, continuously refined their perspectives on marine sustainability through robust intellectual exchange.

科技实践环节同样精彩纷呈。学员们走进临港AI智能港、顶尖科学家永久会址、滴水湖云厅，近距离感受人工智能、大数据等前沿技术如何赋能海洋产业发展；探访现代农业基地与水环境治理项目，从多角度探索可持续发展理念在不同领域的应用。

The technological practice segment was equally impressive. Students visited the Lingang AI Smart Port, the Permanent Venue for the World Laureates Forum, and Dishui Lake Cloud Hall, gaining firsthand insight into how cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence and big data empower marine industry development. They also explored modern agricultural bases and water environment management initiatives, examining the multifaceted application of sustainable development principles across diverse fields.

文化交流更是此次暑期学校的一大亮点。学员们沉浸式体验非遗制作、传统艺术等中国文化活动，亲手制作剪纸、学习书法、体验龙舟，在一针一线、一笔一画、一浆一舟中触摸中华文明的千年脉络，感受团结奋进的中国文化精神；并走进中国家庭，感受上海市民的日常生活，在烟火气息中感受中国家庭的温暖，零距离的接触让文化交流真正深入人心。丰富多彩的文化体验活动，让学员们从多个维度感知中国文化的博大精深，深化了对中国文化的理解与欣赏。

Cultural exchange stood out as one of the defining highlights of the 3S program. Students immersed themselves in traditional Chinese cultural activities, including crafting intangible cultural heritage items and practicing arts. Through hands-on experiences like paper-cutting, calligraphy, and dragon boat racing, they traced the millennia-old threads of Chinese civilization—stitch by stitch, stroke by stroke, oar by oar, embodying the spirit of unity and perseverance intrinsic to Chinese culture. Besides, students also visit to local households to observe Shanghainese daily life, where experiences the warmth of Chinese families shone through ordinary moments. These zero-distance interactions fostered genuine cultural connection. Rich and varied cultural experiences enabled students to appreciate China's profound heritage through multiple lenses, significantly deepening their understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture.

为期三周的暑期学校线下活动，不仅激发了中外青年学子投身海洋科技探究和跨文化合作的热情，更是成为培育知华友华力量的重要实践，中外学员结下了深厚的情谊。学员们纷纷表示，此次暑期学校不仅拓宽了视野，更让他们深刻认识到不同文化背景下合作推动海洋可持续发展的重要性。按照课程安排，学员将带着课题继续开展调研工作，计划6月26日开展线上研讨会，进一步交流探讨全球可持续发展和科学治理相关调研课题。

The three-week on-site 3S program not only ignited the passion of Chinese and foreign students for marine science exploration and cross-cultural collaboration but also served as a vital practice for enhancing the understanding and building friendship with China. Students forged enduring bonds, with many highlighting how the experience broadened their horizons and deepened their appreciation for the critical role of cross-cultural cooperation in advancing marine sustainability. Pursuant to the curriculum, students will continue their research projects, with an online seminar scheduled for June 26 to further discuss findings on global sustainability and scientific governance.

2025上海暑期学校（海洋可持续发展项目）的成功举办，不仅是上海海洋大学深化国际化办学、服务国家海洋战略的生动实践，更是积极响应构建人类命运共同体倡议的具体举措。未来，学校将继续以海洋为媒，推动中外教育文化交流，为全球海洋可持续发展贡献更多智慧与力量。
