2025 SHOU Postdoctor Recruitment Announcement 留学SHOU
Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU) is a multidisciplinary, applied research university, co-established by the State Oceanic Administration, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government.
The predecessor of SHOU was Jiangsu Provincial Fisheries School founded by Zhang Jian and Huang Yanpei in 1912. In 1952, it was upgraded to Shanghai Fisheries Institute, the first undergraduate fisheries university in China. In 1985, it was renamed Shanghai Fisheries University. Later, in 2008, it adopted the name Shanghai Ocean University.
The university currently has 12 colleges (departments), nearly 12,000 full-time undergraduate students, and more than 6200 full-time graduate students. It employs a total of 1,500 teaching and administrative staff members, including more than 800 teachers and scientific researchers, among them more than 500 with senior professional and technical positions, 38 full-time national-level talents, and 228 provincial and ministerial-level talents.
The university is also home to the FAO Center for Ecological Aquaculture (CEA), National Engineering Technology Research Center, National Engineering Laboratory, National Center for International Joint Research under the Ministry of Science and Technology, National University Science Park. Moreover, it has built several university-level scientific research platforms, including the Center for Aquatic Organism Breeding Research, the Research Center for Extreme Ocean Processes and Resources, the Marine Think Tank Research Center, the International Joint Research Center for Food and Health, and the Research Center of International Compliance for Distant Water Fisheries. Besides the first pelagic fishery resources research vessel in China (Songhang) and the only laboratory for ship’s ballast water testing certified by CNAS, CMA, DNV GL, and USCG in China, it has also built Asia’s largest and the world’s third largest dynamic water tank, and developed a 10,000 m-level lander with a depth capacity of 10,918 m.
The University currently boasts four postdoctoral programs in the following four disciplines: Fisheries, Marine Sciences, Biology, and Food Science and Engineering.
Recruitment strictly adheres to the principles of Openness, Equality, Competition, and Merit-based Selection, conducted through a comprehensive assessment process.

2. Generally under the age of 35, with PhD awarded within the past 3 years.

(ii)Remuneration Package:
Standard Postdoctoral Fellows: Guaranteed Annual Stipend Package + Awarded Project Funds + Supplementary Benefits;
Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellows: Guaranteed Annual Stipend Package + Team Postdoctoral Research Grant + Awarded Project Funds + Supplementary Benefits;
1. Annual Stipend: RMB 300,000 pre-tax (all-inclusive package)
2. Team Postdoctoral Research Grant: RMB 50,000/year
3. Funding Programs & Application:
Postdocs may apply for the following competitive funding schemes:
(1) Eligible for Shanghai Overseas Postdoctoral Talent Program or overseas PhD graduates conducting postdoctoral research in Shanghai: RMB 750,000 [RMB 150,000 + RMB 600,000 (Supported by the Shanghai Super Postdoc Incentive Program)];
(2) Postdoctoral Fellowship Program of CPSF-A Level (National Postdoctoral Program for Innovative Talent): RMB 840,000 [RMB 560,000 + RMB 80,000 (Supported by the General Project) + RMB 200,000 (Supported by the Shanghai Government)];
(3) Shanghai Super Postdoc Incentive Program: RMB 600,000;
(4) Postdoctoral Fellowship Program of CPSF-B or C Level: RMB 360,000 or 240,000;
(5) China Postdoc Science Fund - Special Grant: For Natural Sciences: RMB 180,000; for Social Sciences: RMB 150,000;
(6) China Postdoc Science Fund - General Grant: For Natural Sciences: RMB 80,000; for Social Sciences: RMB 50,000;

4. Supplementary Benefits:
(1) Equivalent Benefits to Regular Faculty (Performance-based allocation for teaching/research duties, meal subsidies, complimentary health checks, trade union benefits, etc.);
(2) Preferential Policies pf Lin-gang(Public rental housing, prioritized home-purchasing rights, financial incentives, etc.);
(3) Upon completion of the postdoctoral program, spouses and children may apply for household registration relocation in accordance with Shanghai's accompanying relocation regulations.
1. Full-time postdoctoral positions are recruited on a rolling basis, and applications are accepted year-round.
2. The Postdoctoral Committee of each research station conducts the initial review of application materials and carries out an academic evaluation.
3. Candidates who pass the interview by the Postdoctoral Committee will be reviewed by the university's Postdoctoral Research Station Administration in accordance with national regulations, Shanghai municipal policies, and university rules. Upon approval, they will complete the onboarding procedures.
