Combined Award Ceremony of the PRC Embassy& TCFA Scholarships

On August 18th, the Combined Award Ceremony of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Tonga&Tonga-China Friendship Association High School Scholarship and the Pre-Departure Ceremony for Shanghai Ocean University and other institutions recipients was successfully held. Approximately 140 people attended the event, including Ambassador Liu Weimin, Princess Pilolevu, Prime Minister Hu'akavameiliku, Minister of Education Fasi, Chairperson of Shanghai Ocean University Wang Hongzhou, members of the Tonga-China Friendship Association, scholarship-winning students as well as their teachers and families.

In his speech, Ambassador Liu emphasized that education is a long-term undertaking crucial for centuries to come. He stated that China attaches great importance to talent cultivation and international educational cooperation, encouraging the students to cherish the opportunity, study diligently, and grow into pillars of their country and envoys of friendship between China and Tonga. Representatives from Tonga expressed gratitude to the Chinese government, the Embassy, and universities for their support to Tonga's education sector, hoping that the students will achieve academic success and carry forward the friendship between thetwo countries

Ambassador Liu, Prime Minister Hu'akavameiliku, and others presented awards to 52 middle school students who received scholarships and issued admission letters to 13 university scholarship recipients.
